PBWiki, has partnered with YackPack to provide a new widget for their Wiki clients called the WalkieTalkie.
WalkieTalkie is created by YackPack, and is a widget that could be installed on the PBWiki in a matter of minutes. The widget when installed will allow users/visitors of your wiki to talk to any one else visiting the page. This is akin to a WalkieTalkie, and introduces voice communications to Wiki collaboration. Some of the other features provided by PBWiki are 5 GB of free storage, ability to make Wiki public or private, SSL encryption, custom domains, customizable CSS, unlimited comments on each page, lockable pages and RSS feeds, and several levels of access control.
According to Ramit Sethi, co-founder of PBWiki, “This takes collaboration to an entirely different level. Its more personal and takes away the OMG FLAMER LAMO stuff that you see on IRC. It brings people closer together”. I would agree with Ramit, this would add a new dimension to collaboration, may be this is one reason Wetpaint another Wiki provider has also introduced IM communication in Wikis. PBWiki has raised $2 million in funding from Mohr Davidow Ventures in Feb this year.
