Unype, a mashup of Multiuser Google Earth and Skype, lets you chat and talk and share your Google Earth sessions with other users that have both of these applications installed at their end.

To start the collaborative journey around Google Earth, users will just have to install a free Windows based application and connect to both Google Earth and Skype, once that is done he would have to access the Unype servers and start interacting with other users.

Users will have avatars to represent them in the virtual world, could see other users around them. The location of Avatars move around Google Earth as you roam around. Users could also see a list of all the users currently online on Google Earth and could teleport next to them by clicking on their avatar, or could just get to know more about them by clicking on their name. The activities could also be shared and others could be invited to lets say annotate a building or a place. Users could also show someone around their neighborhood in the virtual world by taking the ‘lead’, so when you will move around the one´s following you will get to see the same area you are moving through and last but not least you could also set your status as being “free”, “busy” or “hidden”.

I really liked the service, its a nice little virtual collaborative application. Who ever wants to show his home and neighborhood to friends can now do it effortlessly.
