Google Talk Continues The Integration Journey, Becomes Widget

Google Talk, which was originally a desktop app first got integrated into Gmail, then came the milestone of becoming a gadget on Google Personalized Page and now it has become a widget. All website owners and bloggers have to do is paste a simple embed code on their sites in order to add the Google talk button (click button below).

If you don’t have a website, Google Talk could still be used in a web based version by going to http://www.google.com/talk and hitting the “launch Google Talk” button.

Google Talk gadget can also be integrated into firefox sidebar, and with the latest release the Google Talk team has also added the ability to view Picasa web albums and Youtube videos inside Google Talk. These features are not limited to Google properties alone and can be used to view Photos from Flickr as well. So the next time you paste the link of a photo in Google Talk you wont be seeing the plain, boring link but rather a picture in all its glory.

The photo and video integration feature was implemented in yahoo messenger, with the release of a plug in called Zync a couple of weeks back. Its surprising how quickly Google responds to competition, however I still prefer the syncing capability and features of Zync because it allows you to not only share and watch the video with your friend, but both of you could easily stop, forward or rewind the video.
