If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to the RSS feed of Startup Meme.

BlogRovr is yet another way to stay up to-date with the latest content from your favorite blogs. It is basically a cross platform, Windows, May and Linux, Firefox 2.0 plugin that gets content from the web while you are surfing. Just like Microsoft does not provide support for their services in Firefox, BlogRovr decided to do the same to them, so it does not support IE, at least for now.

BlogRovr is developed by Activeweave, the same company that brought to you Stickis (a way to know what your friends are interested in and talk back to them), BlogRovr is basically your personal blog tracker. Once you have it installed, all you need to do is surf the web and BlogRovr will work in the background to search and download the stories relevant to the ones you are visiting. New blogs could be added both individually and as a group via OPML file. It also displays an option to fetch the blogs you recently visited.

In a nutshell BlogRovr is a personalized meme tracker that sure is a unique go at this market. But it has a lacking, it is limited to 100 sites only. The idea of any Blog Trackers is to be able to track thousands of blogs and and posts running into many multiples of that. The 100 blog limits seriously plagues any serious use of BlogRovr.

Update: Marc Meyer from ActiveWeave has commented that the 100 blog limit was a beta only feature and has been extended to 1000 blogs now. This is exactly what Andy Beard wanted as well i.e “Just add a Zero“. I must say I got impressed by the speed of their response, they sure sound like a startup. Marc how about implementing the chronological ordering as well.

    Thanks for using blogrovr!

We changed the 100 blog limit in OPML imports to 1000 yesterday.

There was never a hard limit to the number of blogs you could have, but we were limiting (as you point out) the number of blogs which could be imported at one time from an OPML file to 100. We do some substantial verification for each blog and didn’t want importers to have to wait very long.

Try importing again and keep send us feedback on how we can improve your experiences with blogrovr.

Thats quick and great marc, the sole reason Andy Beard didnt wrote about you, was because of the 100 blog limit. I am mailing him as I am writing this to you.

I will update the post as well
