Finally April fool has set it, but this time it hit the blogosphere a day earlier, this might be one reason i got caught unguarded. Here is a list of 2007´s best April fools jokes, ones that almost made us believe they aren’t one.
1. FuckedCompany: In a striking move Techcrunch announced that they have acquired FuckedCompany and the two sites will be merging, thus doubling the TC traffic. If this wasn’t enough they announced that “Entrepreneurs with new ideas will always have a way to reach potential users and customers. They just won’t be able to do it here any more.” I played into it because of the recent hiring of Heather Hardee as TC CEO. It was covered here.
2. Apple iReader: Scoble announced that Apple will be launching a new gadget to make it remarkably easy for the Web2.0 geeks to stay in touch with their feeds on the go. The hypothetical device was named as an iReader. Who knows may be they might eventually take the lead from Scoble and decide to build one.
3. Gmail Paper: Gmail announced that they will be letting you access to all your emails in paper format. You just need to hit the “Paper Archive” button and the Hard Copies would be delivered to you. I bet if their ever will be one such service it will need trillions of tons of paper.

4. Google TiSP: Google has launched Project teaspoon or TiSP, which stands for Toilet Internet Service Provider. They describe it as “Introducing Google TiSP (BETA), our new FREE in-home wireless broadband service. Sign up today and we’ll send you your TiSP self-installation kit, which includes setup guide, fiber-optic cable, spindle, wireless router and installation CD.” This is yet another foray of Google into providing wireless access after enabling WiFi services for San Francisco. More interested check out the installation instructions here
5. Yahoogle: SearchEngineWatch thought that they have had enough of covering two search giants for quiet sometime now. So they finally announced the merger of the two with the new company being named as Yahoogle, and the departure of Page and Brin. This will certainly ruin Microsoft’s ambitions of dominating or even competing in the search domain. Poor Microsoft the recent acquisition of DoubleClick would just go into drain
Pause for a while and just imagine what the world would look like, if these jokes would become reality.
Update: I guess 1st April is really taken seriously in the blogging world, we have a lot of interesting ideas, reviews and posts coming up here and there, every where. So I will just list down the other contributions and analysis.
- Check out Techcrunch to see how seriously Google takes April 1 every year.
- Google Operating System has come up with its own Invention, Google writer that does all the creative work of writing for you and has also covered Gmail Paper and Google TiSP.
- Mashable just couldn’t keep out of it.
- Of all the coverage I liked ReadWriteWeb´s take on it, best.
- How in the world could ZDNet stay behind the bunch.
If you analyze closely and try to summarize every joke into one word, this is what you’ll come up with “Google, Apple, Techcrunch“
