A few days ago Adobe launched Apollo, a cross OS runtime that allows developers to leverage their existing web development skills to build and deploy desktop based rich internet apps. But they are not alone in this any more and now face competition from an upstarter, Dekoh. Dekoh has build an entire gallery of personal media applications to go with their platform. Their blog contains an elaborate comparison of Dekoh and the Apollo platform.
So the web monster that was gobbling desktop apps one by one, chewing them and spitting them out as web apps, now has opposition from people who want both the worlds to live side by side.
