12seconds is a new video messaging service that allows its users to post short videos. The first thing that strikes mind on reading a “short videos word is a “short video…may be of a minute or two or if you are a kool brainy person then you might guess the right “12 seconds length. Well as the name depicts, the service offers you to send as short as a 12 second long video( really sounds interesting!!)
12seconds is a startup that calls itself a “twitter video. It has got something really common between itself and twitter and that is the limitation of length. Twitter’s 140 characters is its uniqueness while 12seconds also serves somewhat the same purpose in the form of a 12 second video.
Another sort of micro –messaging company “Seesmic already offers the same concept but 12seconds can easily beat Seesmic, as it is easier and quicker to use. Seesmic cannot be regarded as a true “video twitter as it takes much more time then twitter. Thus, it is a right time for 12second to jump into the competition ground.
The service being unique in its own way says that they have chosen number “12 rather then any other number because 12seconds is an enough time to record some really creative and thought provoking stuff.
There is no particular reason why it’s 12 seconds and not 10 or 15. 12 is a good number. We like 12. But the main idea here is to keep things quick. To keep things pithy. You can sing “Happy Birthday in 12 seconds, you can share moments of your vacation in 12 seconds. You can show people where you are or tell them what you’re up to in 12 seconds. If you need more time, record another one. Be creative; we think you’ll find that 12 seconds is plenty of time.
But the question arises, does 12 seconds is a plenty of time to record any creative stuff (It will make people shocked when they would be busy in watching a video and will suddenly watch an end realizing that an unembellished 12seconds of time has been elapsed)
According to the site, anything longer then the “defined time span will be quite Boring.
The scientists here at the 12seconds ordeal have conducted countless hours of research to determine the precise amount of time it takes for boredom or apathy to set in during typical Internet video viewing. Our patent pending Electro-Tear-Duct Prongers have determined that exactly 12 seconds of video is the ideal amount of time to keep anything interesting.
The emerging service of Santa Cruz, Calif is a side product of founder David Beach, a Yahoo employee. The service is currently in its alpha private testing mode but you can glimpse some of its videos by signing in.
12seconds seems to be a good startup, especially if we will compare it with “Seesmic . The light colouring scheme and clear cut interface of a site might attract number of users as Seesmic has got a cluttered interface with some bright and bold colour skin. But will people find 12seconds enough to visualize something creative? Or it might be a killing tool to spread an awareness of time’s worth and public will really start valuing time (even seconds).

12 second? What can you display in such a short time? Is there a way to compress the message such as Rina Fitria’s Thank you video that I just posted in my site into a 12 seconds video?
drt, as the site is in its aplha testing mode, it donot allow users to upload anthing.
But sample videos on a site depicts that they donot offer any kind of compressing technique for video messages……..the main concept is, you have to dispaly everything in a short span of 12 seconds!!!
