Behold the power of video calling, or should I say multiple video calling when it comes to Skype? It has released the latest version of the software for Windows which takes 5 calling twice ahead, enabling 10 video callers at a time. Brilliant by all means, though it’s still in beta and can be downloaded here.
The latest feature offers users quite a lot. The major introductions being:
- Improved stability and quality
- A cleaner and more efficient user interface
- Better notifications
- And lastly the power to video call up to 10 people at a time.
One important thing however is the introduction of automatic call recovery. Very essential where network errors contribute to creating a huge fuss with dropped calls due to network issues.
The Skype bit is good for Skype but I think this would give Gmail’s video calling service a big challenge. I understand the two are different from each other but the recent hype around Gmail and its Voice Calling. But lets keep competition out for now. One more thing to mention here is that in order to leverage 10 way video calling all the folks involved must have the same Skype 5.0 Beta version 2 for Windows, it will otherwise not work.
One last thing, remember it’s a Beta and don’t expect it to crash and die down at will. Do share your experience with us in the comments.
